Ulla Johnson x Niwaki
Niwaki has partnered with eponymous luxury women’s fashion brand Ulla Johnson to create a highly desirable ikebana kit, complete with everything you need to start making beautiful and stylish floral display: just add flowers and water.
Is nature the ultimate couturier? There’s certainly a lifetime’s worth of inspiration to be taken from the colours, shapes and scents of the garden, so it’s no surprise to learn that Ulla herself is a keen gardener.
Having visited Niwaki Chiltern Street, London – where a small number of kits will be available to purchase from 6 May – Ulla hand-selected a collection of Niwaki tools and accessories, then added her own magic with an exclusive furoshiki cloth to create this special kit.
Ulla explains: “I bring the outdoors in as much as I can, wherever I am. Our spaces are designed around this concept, even in the heart of the city. The arrival of Spring is full of such beauty and sense of opportunity. Watching the new life as it blooms and unfurls around us is soul soothing. I start each day in the garden whenever I can, gathering stems and branches to bring light and life into the house. It gives me great joy.”
Is there a better way to start the day? We’re struggling to think of one, though you may find yourself with soggy slippers if you’re too adventurous at this time of year in the environs of Niwaki HQ.
The kit is comprised of the following co-branded items:

- Mini Kenzan Set
- Hand-crafted ceramic Kenzan Bowl by Dorset-based Japanese ceramicist, Yo Thom.
- A special edition, richly coloured Furoshiki Cloth, for wrapping, protecting or even wearing.
Available in limited numbers in-store at Niwaki Chiltern Street, London from 4 May and, for US customers, in Ulla Johnson boutiques and web-store from 6 May.
