In Japan these heavy duty snips from Okatsune are used for pine pruning (some gardeners favour these, others opt for the round-handled Garden Scissors) but they’re brilliant as a heavy duty pair of snips, for all sorts of detailed work where you need to get into tight spots (secateurs would be too clumsy) and make quite substantial cuts.
Visit the remarkable Adachi gardens in Japan and all the gardeners use these.
Best usage
For heavier wood, try to cut nearer the pivot, not at the tips.
