Replacement Bolt • Niwaki Joppari Secateurs
$2.50 exVAT
Remarkable secateurs forged in the Aomori style, where they are traditionally used for orchard pruning. The double spring/cushioning allows for non-stop, repetitive work - imagine winter pruning entire orchards, or indeed winter pollards, where one is cutting repeatedly for much of the day. Snug, compact size that feels great in the hand.
Old Yamakawa san treated us to a special batch, and they come in a hard wearing canvas pouch

Yamakawa san started working for his father the day after he graduated from high school, and has been making secateurs ever since. His Yamagata factory is home to five stray cats, each fed on fresh sashimi!
Most of our sharp tools are made from carbon steel - this means they may, through regular use, stain (and eventually rust) and gradually lose their edge. Caring for them involves three things…
New tools won’t need sharpening for some time, but after a while you’ll notice them gradually lose their edge, especially if you’re box clipping (you need REALLY sharp blades to get a good finish with box). Use the Niwaki Sharpening Stones for best results (#1000 grit is best for general sharpening).
