Product description

Workshops with Ai Jones
TBC

Available to book as individual courses, or sign up for both and enjoy charcuterie cheese, nibbles and wine from Compton McRae in the break between courses

Location: Niwaki HQ Showroom, Unit 7, Chaldicott Barns, Semley, Dorset, SP7 9AW

Join master florist Ai Jones at Niwaki HQ for either an Ikebana workshop, a Kokedama workshop, or join both courses and enjoy a light supper in the break between courses.

During the Ikebana workshop you will learn the Japanese art of flower arranging, using Niwaki Kenzan, snips and scissors to create designs inspired by tradition but with a contemporary twist.

The second workshop will focus on Kokedama – a Japanese decorative technique for potting plants in a sphere of soil and moss which can be displayed in a number eye-catching ways.

Take your creations home with you at the end as a memento of what you’ve learned and to show off your new found skills to your friends and family.

If you decide to make an afternoon of it and participate in both workshops, in-between sessions you will make your way over to our neighbours, Compton McRae, where you will be served an early light supper, including a glass of wine alongside a delicious platter of charcuterie, cheese, focaccia and nibbles. A great way to spend an afternoon learning new skills and making new friends in the charming environs of Chaldicott Barns, Semley.

More about Ai

Ai Jones began studying Ikenobo / 池坊 – the oldest Ryuha / 流派 or style of Ikebana – as a 15 year old in her native Japan. Over time, she developed a passion for Western flower arranging and moved to the UK to learn more. Ai’s synthesis of Japanese and Western styles is now highly in demand, most recently at The Newt in Somerset, Bramble & Wild in Frome and the Niwaki HQ Showroom, Semley. We are delighted that she has chosen to share her journey of floral discovery with you.
