A solid slab of Chamaecyparis obtusa aka hinoki, the Japanese Cypress. Wood is good, especially when it comes to chopping boards: better for the knife and better for your food/health.
Hinoki is prized for its aroma, its anti-bacterial properties its resistance to rot and decay (it’s also used to make bathtubs) as well as its tactility, and its dance moves. One of these is not true. It’s also relatively soft, which protects your knives from heavy impact.
