Product description
Drop forged and hand finished in Yamagata, deep in the mountains of North Japan, our ‘double yellows’ are the perfect combination of refined craftsmanship and every day usability. Tough carbon steel holds a mean edge, the chunky catch at the bottom and the strong spring gives a reassuringly simple functional feel, and the yellow grips show up when you’ve left them somewhere in the garden (or you can remove them for a more traditional look.)
Perfect for keen gardeners, landscapers and professionals who work their tools hard and need quality and precision in daily use. Jake’s current favourites.
Best usage
Pro for a reason: these secateurs are our tool of choice for longer days in the garden. Available in regular or large (for larger hands not more substantial cuts). We know it’s easy to get carried away, but please be mindful of the maximum cut rating (⌀15mm). It’s also good practice to pay attention to what type of wood you’re cutting (and the time of year) as this can influence the hardness of the material and potentially damage your blades. Always cut diagonally and position the bough as deep in the V of the blade and bypass as you can. If you feel like you’re struggling, stop and switch to the pruning saw: it’s not worth damaging your precious secateurs by being stubborn or too lazy to switch.
- Remove dirt and debris with the Mini Clean Mate

More about the GR Pro range
Our Standard and Small GR Pros are made by a small family business in Yamagata: 2nd generation Mr Kudo still puts in a full day’s work as he approaches 80, assisted by his wife and their two sons. Drop in for their favourite local food, niku soba ( meaty noodles) and a glass or two of sake.
